Cy is the patriarch of Elmquist’s and has been here for 40 years doing pretty much
every job available in the store from Licensed Watch Maker to jeweler to diamond
buyer to owner. Now in semi-retirement, Cy comes in daily to oversee operations and
helps out at special events. He is a valued resource and wealth of information we could
not do without here in the store. When Cy is not working, he enjoys spending time with
his wife, children and grandchildren. He also likes spending time in Arizona, playing
golf and bridge.
Mike is a third generation goldsmith and has been with Elmquist’s since 1979. In addition to working in his family’s jewelry store, Mike honed his craft at Gem City College in Illinois. Mechanically gifted, Mike can fix pretty much anything if there is a good way to do it. In 1998, he became part owner in Elmquist’s and is challenged with the day-to-day store operations. When he is doing what he loves, you can find he and his wife Cheryl spending time hunting and fishing with his grandson.
Ron has been a staple at Elmquist’s for 32 years and a one man show in the watch
and clock department including purchasing inventory and repairing customer’s
merchandise. Another valuable part in Ron’s job is his role of head jewelry cleaner,
making sure that customer’s jewelry is cleaned thoroughly before being repaired and
after repair. Educationally he has learned quite a bit on the job over all those years as
well as has taken courses in jewelry repair (GIA). When Ron is not at the store you
can find he and his wife following their daughter in her activities or at the lake when
it is actually warm enough! He enjoys sports playing fast pitch softball and just started
pitching last year at the ripe old age of 48 as well as playing racquet ball in the
non-summer months.
Chris started at Elmquist’s in 1997 as a sales associate and since that time has
earned her Graduate Gemologist (GIA) degree, had two more children and has
been promoted to store manager. When not at work, Chris is usually managing
the activities of her three children Kalli, Kori and Brody, spending time with her
husband Andy, or playing social director for the rest of her family. Chris enjoys
reading, shopping, working out to rid herself from the guilt of enjoying good food
and spending time with friends.
Jill has been at the store since 1998, starting work four months after she and her
husband Chris eloped in Las Vegas after purchasing their rings at Elmquist’s.
Before starting at Elmquist’s, Jill worked in advertising design after earning her
B.F.A. degree from St. Cloud State University. With that background, she has been
able to design promotional store materials and jewelry, in addition to working as a
goldsmith, Graduate Gemologist (GIA) and computer guru. Jill and her husband
have three children Jack, Olivia and Will to keep them very busy when they are not
working. In her free time, Jill likes to play sports, sing, shop, read, spend time with
family and friends, and attempt to clean her house.
